Glenrandel Bridge

Work to rebuild the bridge commenced in April 2020 and included significant realignment of the carriageway.

The project was carried out sensitively with regard to the local environment as the region is designated as an Area of Special Scientific Interest. The river is also an important Salmon breading ground and as such, special measures were agreed with Environmental Agencies to ensure that our activities did not impact on this protected species.

Kilmore Bridge

The project involved the construction of pre-stressed beam and slab integral bridge. Realignment of the C278 Kilmore Rd approach embankment and minor realignment of the Annacloy River.

Demolition of the existing bridge deck and central pier and partial demolition of the existing bridge abutments was carried out following the completion of the new structure.

Various Sea defence schemes

Skilled Contracts has been involved with multiple large scale Sea Defence Schemes. We supplied all the plant and labour to HBS Ltd for an emergency repair at Drumsesk after a severe storm caused the collapse of a section of the seawall.

The work involved the construction of an in-situ concrete plinth along the toe of the wall, which was further reinforced with rock armour.

The projects where challenging both due to access difficulties and short working periods due to tidal restrictions.
